from the “how did i miss this?” department…

there’s a joyful little video from tech-ed, which you can see over at virtual tech-ed, starring our very own sbs diva.

in the video she talks at length about being an mvp & the sbs community.

methinks mario still has little to no idea how lucky he was to avoid getting whomped by the 2×4 of justice when he equated the mvp role with marketing.

all in all tho…

some pretty good stuff at virtual tech-ed, particularly if you are a member of the numbskull non-attendee squad, like yours truly.

wm5 device emulator: connection

Now that we’ve installed Device Emulator 1.0 and tricked it out, let’s see how it handles.

Since an emulated Window Mobile 5 device only has a fake GPRS connection, DEmu 1.0 offers a couple of other options for network connectivity, including Ethernet, which will be the primary focus of this section. At the outset of this series, I mentioned installation of DEmu 1.0 inside a Virtual PC environment. Unfortunately, trying to enable Ethernet connectivity for DEmu 1.0 running inside Virtual PC tends to be only marginally less productive than smashing your head against a brick.

For the next while, all sections will concern DEmu 1.0 running on a host PC.

Previously, we outlined the command line switches available when executing DEmu 1.0. The switches we’ll look at right now are /p and /n

new addition to the rogues gallery

altho not a newcomer here, as she has appeared as part of many previous postings…

ms. nancy williams aka sugar mama now graces the funcave rogues gallery.

golden lariat optional

as a coordinator, manager, or pr guru extraordinaire…

nearly unmatched in her ability to forge professional relationships…

nancy would be an excellent catch for any company looking to make serious strides with the it & sbs communities.

so if you’re a hiring manager…

click nancy’s name & drop her a line already.

complete complete surprise

your friendly neighborhood happyfunboy must admit…

he’s not often surprised by many things.

however, this very evening…

yours truly was caught completely off-guard when he received this at a microsoft partner appreciation dinner:

Totalshock

over at the sbs show, we talk a lot about community.

specifically about getting involved, sharing, benefits, etc.

and even tho the hunk of rock pictured above is not why this happyfunboy got involved, nor why he’s stayed involved…

it was nice to know that someone else noticed.

hugs & kisses

to all our pals on the road right now, including…

harry, nancy & the rest of the smb nation crew, who are in hershey pa today at the d&h show.

Kissmobile

as a special gift to them, i’ll simply say…

remember remember, the 8th of september!

that’s the first day of the smb nation 2006 conference, held on the microsoft campus in redmond…

and if you haven’t yet registered, all i can say is…

you better get moving!

this year’s conference is on-track to sellout.

and, of course…

godspeed to mastermind & the rest of the mobitech army aka the road dogs, currently underway on their 12 city mobilize smb tour, dedicated to teaching you all about managed services, and how to implement it in your firm.

they’ve finished chicago & detroit.

next stop…

one of my favorite former stomping grounds…

cincinnati ohio!

now, in case you were nodding off right there, and missed it…

after tomorrow’s session, the entire mobilize smb tour will be a quarter of the way over.

so if you haven’t signed up for one of their stops…

quit screwing around and get signed up already!

better yet, sign up for smb nation 2006…

then make your travel & lodging plans so that you can attend mobitech’s final stop, the day before the conference.

this is a case of practice what you preach…

your friendly neighborhood happyfunboy will be in the audience at the atlanta stop on the 14th.

and, of course…

yours truly will also be in redmond in september.

see ya there!
