why i stat
a couple of months ago…
a friend or 2 & i discussed the topic of stat tracking for our respective home-sweet-funcaves on the intarweb while we were all in redmond hanging out.
as it turns out…
neither of them actually look at their sites’ stats at all.
some aggregate numbers maybe…
but nothing in detail.
which i think is perhaps for a couple of reasons.
one of them prolly just doesn’t give a flying flip.
well, that…plus the fact the amount of traffic going there is astronomical.
anybody who’s met him would totally agree with me on those assessments.
the other really puzzled me tho.
her answer was something along the lines of…
my blog is simply my thoughts. i’m afraid that looking at stats would affect what i wrote about too much.
hey…different strokes for different folks.
but i do look at stats, for one simple reason…
it shows me the way to other communities that tangentially have touched on the ones i’m already a part of
this happens all the time, including very very recently when i noticed a bunch of new traffic coming to read a little item i posted concerning the non-release release of voice command 1.6.
someone posted a link to a couple of mobile device forums that might never had found on my own.
i’m guess just shocked that the both of them…
who are among those who really help lead the way in terms of community-building…
didn’t think of that.
