just give me somethin’…somethin’ i can use!

the circus has come to town!

so the entire funcave has been waiting with bated breath…

anxiously watching for the final vista driver updates to finally drop from hp.

specifically, we’re keeping vigil for the labtop, which is chugging along with little to no drivers loaded.

of course, hp’s handy dandy chat support reps cheerfully chirp any day now.

and in a sense, they’re right.

drivers are appearing.

but look at the list of the totally useless vista updates that have been released so far for the labtop…

  • tv tuner card
  • bios
  • help & support file
  • lightscribe driver

& to pour even more salt in the wound…

  • hp update

that little gem would be hp’s magic updating utility which, of course, shows no updates available when you run it.

talk about scraping the bottom of the usefulness barrel when it comes to drivers.

how about a little more priority on drivers that actually matter, such as…

  • display driver
  • chipset
  • wireless network card

sweet mother of moses…

you’d think with all the hoopla & sloganeering about aero, a brand new day, people ready, pull my finger, etc. etc.

there’d have been a little more readiness here, there & everywhere.

  1. Testify brother! My Core 2 Duo notebook is missing sound & the webcam driver, and drivers for my backup Samsung laser printer are MIA. But we’re dual-booting until the dust settles. In the immortal words of Rob Patterson at SMB Nation last year, “All I know about the bleeding edge is ‘that’s where people bleed’.”
