device emulator v2 standalone now available
version 2 of microsoft’s amazing device emulator was just released as a standalone package yesterday.
that’s fantastic news, as v2 offers some marked improvements over device emulator v1. the top 2 improvements have to be:
- full support for windows vista
- full support for windows mobile 6
other words, network connectivity will finally work under vista with v2.
hoo-rah!
other changes include:
- ability to set additional options after boot
- much faster speed
- greatly enhanced rendering
even with all this tho, the really big news will come when standalone images of windows mobile 6 are released, much as the standalone images of wm5 were included with the standalone version of device emulator v1.
of course, if you own visual studio standard or higher, you can get all the emulated device goodness you want right now. heck…you’ve had it for months.
but this is still welcome news for all us non-code monkeys.
