Running Antelope Responds To Response Point
Yes, it’s true.
Response Point will be spreading its voice-activated goodness all over the Funcave next month, thanks to the 100 unit set-aside promo offered exclusively to US SBSCs.
I received an e-mail yesterday evening from Jeff Smith, Senior Product Manager for RP, informing me that we’re slated to receive a system (pending receipt of the proper paperwork, naturally).
So when I told Running Antelope the news, including the estimated value, here was her response…
$2000!?! For a PHONE system!?!?!
That’s when I rolled the vids from the Response Point website for her.
You have to understand my wife’s approach to technology. Basically, she thinks of anything new as an invading army, out to attack her family and way of life, and therefore needs to be fought with all her might and strength of will.
Which is why she is such a helpful canary. I know that if something gets her attention at all, it’s really worth a second look.
After seeing the attendant features in action, she immediately declared…
WOW! That’s a heckuva lot cheaper than a virtual assistant, isn’t it?
Everything, and I mean everything, she does involves the phone. So anything that will make her more efficient? Instant acceptance. No resistance.
Her second reaction, after letting what she saw percolate?
I sure wish we’d had something like that when we first started.
Exactly, my dear.
The war isn’t over. Not by a long shot. But getting her to be receptive to even trying it? That bodes well.
Expect all kinds of writeup action here at the Funcave. There will be lots and lots of info, and prolly a whole new Funlab series. 5.x, to be exact.

When will more information be available on Response Point? How do you integrate this phone system into your business? Wired or Wireless?
Thanks,
BV

Bill – Response Point does require a wired LAN; the phones plug into standard Ethernet jacks. We decided not to support voice-over-WiFi because neither call quality or connection reliability were high enough. We have some videos with more setup and configuration information at http://www.msreadiness.com/responsepoint.
Chris – I should note that $2000 is the “approximate retail prize value” rather than a firm MSRP, and thus should not be taken too literally. But the perspective you share here is an excellent one. As with any innovative technology, we should not underestimate the amount of awareness building and customer education we’ll need to do.
Thanks,
Jeff
