I Want My RDP!

So a lot of folks are finding out that the kickass new RDP client in Windows Mobile 6 isn’t installed on certain brand-spanking new Windows Mobile 6 devices, particularly if they’re rocking something from the Big Yellow Fan AKA Sprint.

It's a such a small, good thing...isn't it?

The explanation for this omission is very simple:

Mobile Operators And OEMs Have Absolute Authority Over What Features Are Included In Any, And All, Devices Sporting Their Logos.

While the full implications of that fact are sinking into your noggin…

You’ll be glad to know that an enterprising member of the PDAPhoneHome forums has created an installation package of the new WM6 RDP client. Originally created to give WM5 users the groovy new features, it also works on RDP-less WM6 devices.

Obviously, this isn’t an official release from MS, your mobile operator, or your mom. So backup your device first, to guard against the off-chance that it hoses something.

That being said, here’s the link…

MAJOR tip: When actually installing the RDP client, install it to your device’s main memory, not the storage card. Otherwise, the keyboard functions will not work correctly for you.
