The Messaging Interface Has Returned An Error

So for the last several days (maybe more), Running Antelope had been getting the following error whenever she tried to access my shared Calendar in Outlook 20007 using the Quick List option in the left-hand sidebar…

The messaging interface has returned an error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

Besides being just about the most useless error message ever, in this case restarting Outlook did neither jack nor squat.

Here’s a fix for certain situations where this error might appear…

On the Quick List, right-click the name of the user whose calendar is throwing the error, then click “Delete.”

Oh...the lengths o'chopping I will go to protect my wife's secret identity.

Click “Open a Shared Calendar” on the left-hand sidebar.

Type the name of the user whose Calendar you want to open, then click “OK.”

Running Antelope's the name...writing for money is her game!

If the Calendar opens…VOILA!

Your Quick List link should be fixed as well.

If it doesn’t open, you might have something seriously.bad.wrong going on in your environment, either at an infrastructure or Exchange level.

In that case, you should contact an expert consultant to help get those bigger issues squared away.
