Hurr-ay Hurr-ay Hurr-ay!

In case you happened to miss the fine print…
Nearly all the official Windows Mobile 6 upgrades that have been released so far have some major restrictions, including…
- Availability time limit
- Registration required for download
- Single-download limit
For example, the 8525 update is only available until February 1, 2008. The Samsung i600 release is only available until April, 2008. That’s not a very long time at all.
In most cases you have to give a device serial number to download the update. Once a serial number is given, that’s it. You don’t get another crack at downloading the update.
So at least take a few common sense precautions…
- Download the upgrade for your device now, rather than later. You don’t have to load it now, but get it in your hands before you get busy and forget to do it.
- No way around the user registration in some cases, especially if you have a device made or OEM’d by HTC. Just gotta suck it up and do it.
- Backup backup backup the upgrade file. Save it in a couple of different locations, actually.

Wish I had a file to backup. Still no love for the 700wx.

@ Roger…
All signs point to no WM6 love at all for the 700wx. No idea if there are any cooked ROM builds available, but there isn’t likely to be an official WM6 ROM ever.
I’d be more than happy to be proven wrong on that by Palm.
