A Personal Answer To Mark’s Question

Everyone has their own reasons for going or not going to a given conference or summit. So the universal answer I just gave doesn’t fully answer Mark’s question for everyone.
And seeing as how I would never assume nor expect to speak for everyone, I can only speak for myself…
There are several reasons I did not put SMB Summit on my calendar this year, none of which are worth mentioning here.
But even if I had booked it, I would have had to cancel.
Because attending would have meant missing the Alabama Book Festival held yesterday in Montgomery, in the restored historical park of Old Alabama Town.
And the reason that would have been such a big loss for me?
I would have missed Apple Of My Eye reading the book she wrote, which just so happened to have won first place in the second grade division for the entire state of Alabama in the Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest this year.
All the place winners and their family members were then treated to a fantastic lunch at the Young House. Man, that roast beef was phenomenal.
After that, Apple Of My Eye and Running Antelope were both interviewed on-camera for a segment that will air on Alabama Public Television on May 30th.
Then we stopped at the Galleria in Birmingham on the way back home so Apple Of My Eye and Cute As A Button could ride the carousel, and then go shopping with Running Antelope and their grandmothers.
Yesterday during all of this, Apple Of My Eye told Running Antelope…
This has been the very best day of my whole entire life.
That, my friends, is REALLY what it’s all about.
So no matter what your reason, I can only say that if you don’t prioritize properly, either in your business life or in your personal life, it’s gonna end up costing you dearly.
And if you are prioritizing correctly, then you should be proud of your choices, not second-guessing yourself for making the right call.
