You need to upgrade BGInfo to the latest version (4.13) for it to detect Windows Server 2008.

You'll also either need to install the Integration Components or enable Time Synchronization as an Integration Service in the Settings for the VM.

And you don't really see Vista run (SEA-VISTA1), it only really walks. :-)

To address the comment by Jason Leib, since Windows Server 2008 is the same kernel as Windows Vista the RTM is actually SP1. My server actually reports that it is Windows Vista (you can see my screen shot at http://mitchgarvis.com/blogs/mitch/archive/2008/07/05/reference-to-chris-rue-s-post.aspx).

I did notice the time issue. In the Integration Service settings of the virtual machine there is an option to uncheck time synchronization, so the child OS need not necessarily be synchronized with the parent... of course nothing to do with time zones.

I am curious about the unknown OS though...

You picked some crazy eastern Alabama time zone that made the time all wonky by 1:11. Anything to get out of work a bit early, eh?

Well, it shows SP1 on Server 2K8, which doesn't exist, except that with the unified code base with Vista, it's really Vista SP1 that's included since the changes were integrated into Longhorn before RTM.
The first SP for 2K8 will actually be SP2!
Hope that's what you were talking about, 'cause that was a lot of thumb-typing!
