You'll also either need to install the Integration Components or enable Time Synchronization as an Integration Service in the Settings for the VM. I did notice the time issue. In the Integration Service settings of the virtual machine there is an option to uncheck time synchronization, so the child OS need not necessarily be synchronized with the parent... of course nothing to do with time zones.
