Windows Phone 7 Series Unveiled
Microsoft finally took the wraps off Windows Mobile 7 today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
First off, it’s got a new naming convention: Windows Phone. Second, it has a brand-spanking new UI…finally!
Windows Phone 7 extends the idea of hubs, which first appeared in Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard devices, to the entire UI.
Windows Phone 7 integrates both Xbox Live and Zune. Personally, I think Zune Pass is one of the greatest things since sliced bread. Why anyone would choose any other way to get digital music escapes me.
Thankfully, MS has kept one of the single most compelling features of Windows Mobile, which is Office Mobile.
Overall, Windows Phone 7 looks pretty badass. iPhone killer? That remains to be seen. But it has a better than even shot at knocking down Apple’s solid gold baby. Compared to the zero chance earlier versions of Windows Mobile had at competing with anything, that’s a heckuva improvement.
Here are some links to Windows Phone 7 information. I’ll be adding to this list as other sources come my way. Enjoy!
