Windows Phone 7 Series Unveiled

Microsoft finally took the wraps off Windows Mobile 7 today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Let's start with...the Start screen.

First off, it’s got a new naming convention: Windows Phone. Second, it has a brand-spanking new UI…finally!

Hubs can help you keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!

Pictures. Cuz, you know...they're worth a whole bunch of words!

Windows Phone 7 extends the idea of hubs, which first appeared in Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard devices, to the entire UI.

Yes, Windows Phone 7 does Xbox Live!

It also does Zune, including the Almighty Zune Pass!

Windows Phone 7 integrates both Xbox Live and Zune. Personally, I think Zune Pass is one of the greatest things since sliced bread. Why anyone would choose any other way to get digital music escapes me.

I gotta fevah! And the only Mobie Office!

Thankfully, MS has kept one of the single most compelling features of Windows Mobile, which is Office Mobile.

Overall, Windows Phone 7 looks pretty badass. iPhone killer? That remains to be seen. But it has a better than even shot at knocking down Apple’s solid gold baby. Compared to the zero chance earlier versions of Windows Mobile had at competing with anything, that’s a heckuva improvement.

Here are some links to Windows Phone 7 information. I’ll be adding to this list as other sources come my way. Enjoy!
