It’s called the KIN and it comes in two flavors…

KIN One

KIN Two
So check it out. Could this make any headway against iPhone, Android, or anything else? Don’t be shy about posting up your thoughts.

Microsoft finally took the wraps off Windows Mobile 7 today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

First off, it’s got a new naming convention: Windows Phone. Second, it has a brand-spanking new UI…finally!

You gotta check out this video.

I don’t know about you, but this kind of integration seriously gets my attention.
I’m telling ya. Mobility = where it’s AT!
Notice the central importance of speaker independant voice control. Hello…Voice Command!
But some things I did notice…
The dude isn’t trying to use the interface in traffic, whatsoever. Driver distraction != Teh Sexxay
Can’t argue much the music choices they use for the video:
- All Along the Watchtower – Jimi Hendrix
- Fire – also Jimi Hendrix
- Beautiful Day – U2
- Freddie Freeloader – Miles Davis (which is the same music I used in the video I made for Susanne’s talk in Amsterdam such a long long time ago)
Personally, not a fan of Coldplay. But that’s because they sound like a poor man’s cheap imitation of the late Jeff Buckley. Play his rendition of “Hallelujah” at least, if you don’t believe me…
Thankfully, MS didn’t get cute and use the SYNC to play N’Sync, or something else cheesy stupid, in that video.
I also noticed how MS focused on the ability to control the iPod, and just gave a passing mention and a quick pic of the Zune.
Not only that, but the Zune was connected via a cable as well. They open the video touting the lack of cables with SYNC…then later they show a bunch of cables?
Besides, isn’t the Zune supposed to squirt, or puke, or spit up its music to other Zunes somehow? It would be kinda stupid if the Zune didn’t work wirelessly inside a SYNC enabled vehicle.
Think how heartbroken this guy will be!

Ladies…Zune tattoo guy will most likely be needing some TLC real soon.
Above all else tho…
MS needs to get a decent freaking stylist. And right.hell.now!

That’s the umpteenth crappy-beyond-belief shirt I’ve seen in an MS video today.

as if the previous missteps haven’t been enough to convince someone in redmond to re-examine their oh-so-edgy viral marketing campaign for their crappy, half-baked media player…
it’s absolutely mind-boggling that anyone would be stupid enough to green-light a drive-up blast of music at 3a on a sunday in a residential area.

and in the ‘hood, no less.
be glad the driver didn’t get one helluva beat-down from local residents.
speaking personally…
i’d have been rolling out with the biggest louisville slugger i could get my hands on.

this has gone on long enough.
microsoft, from all of us here at the funcave…
wake the !@$% up!
