To be precise…

Today’s info was just the first of what will actually be 7 Saturdays of Device Emulator 2.0 running the Windows Mobile 6 standalone images. But that’s close enough to the real thing, which is kind of the entire point of the Funlab 2.x series.
So if you want to see all the info, now’s a perfect time to sign up for the Funboard.
Because the full versions of all the Funlabs can only be seen by signed-in members of FB.

The Funboard AKA FB passed the 300 user mark yesterday.
I’ve been so busy, I nearly didn’t notice.
Quite frankly, FB has been a total surprise. Despite not having an army of people to pimp it (thanks to Bitzie for a non-snide mention, tho), nor the full-on force of a vanity multimedia press, the Funboard has grown at an astonishing rate.
What still takes time, however, is conversation.
Like it or not, most of Web 2.0 does not foment conversation.
Blogs? They are the ultimate soliloquy. Which is totally OK. Sometimes having that single voice is the best thing.
But sometimes, it isn’t. Hence…FB.
From the outset, FB has been a closed community, requiring a login for any access whatsoever. There were numerous reasons for that, not the least of which was my wanting to see how the board itself responded to traffic, etc.
I specifically avoided a couple of things when starting FB. Mainly, I did zero organized “recruiting” for FB membership anywhere outside the Funcave itself. Despite a strange amount of static regarding “motives,” I’d announced the fact that the Funlab walk-throughs and more detailed info were moving months earlier. Obviously tho, people still took it as though I was adulterating their oatmeal.
The long and the short of it is…
I had set a silent goal of 300 registrations as the point at which the Funboard would go public, so to speak.
So today is the day the Funboard flips to a semi-open forum.
By semi-open, I mean that there will still be specific topics which will remain gated, and will require a sign-in to access, including:
- The Funlabs
- AlabamaSMB (open only to AlabamaSMB members)
- An as-yet-unnamed group to appear later
And of course, the ability to post a comment requires a sign-in. That will never change.
So if you’ve somehow been offended that the Funboard was closed…
Now you can be a little less offended, if you wish.

Just in time for MEDC 2007, the WM6 SDK refresh was released today.
Couple of things the instrux mention:
- Be sure to uninstall the previous SDK releases before installing the refresh.
- If Cellular Emulator disappears from Start menu after uninstalling one of the SDKs, run a repair of the remaining SDK to make it reappear.
If you’d like more info, including stuff to watch out for that the scant instrux don’t mention, slide over to the Funboard for the full scoop.
And if you’re somehow offended by the thought of doing that…then just move along.
Simple concept, isn’t it?

All of the large, full write-up content from the Funcave AKA FC is slowly making its way over to the Funboard AKA FB. That’s nothing new. There will still be links here at FC that can get you to the stuff over at its new home.
Now’s the perfect time to go ahead & register for FB. That way you won’t get interrupted, waiting for approval, when the robot horde has come up with a fix that will help you out.
Once you’re over at FB…if you want to quickly find the more detailed stuff, you can run a Search for Topics with FUNLAB in them.
You can even save that search if you want, since FB’s running the cool-as-ice Saved Searches extension, coded by none other than the father of Vanilla himself, Mark O’Sullivan.
That will save the search on the left, in the Control Panel. So from then on, you can just click that link & keep rolling.
BTW: The migrations aren’t happening in order, so the installments for each Funlab will sort out of order in the search. But they’re numbered so you can read them sequentially, which can be kind of important for the more detailed series.

Yet another tool in constant use here at the Funplex finally goes to full release.
Anyone else find it funny that the system requirements don’t show Vista as supported, even tho the download page includes removal instructions specific to Vista? That’s funny as in weird, not as in ha-ha. And not weird in a good way, either.
Late as it was in the dev cycle, I’m sure that absolutely 0 of the BCM Mobile wishlist that’s brewing over at the Funboard made it into this release.
If you’ve got Office Accounting integrated with Business Contact Manager, you might want to get MOA’s Service Pack 1 loaded first. Trust me tho…that service pack’s no walk in the park.
